A few readers have asked me whether it was safe for the party-goers to go out at night in Quito. I would say that after 3 years spent in the country, I haven't had any problems so far. I would say it is a prettty safe city but you have to be careful and abide to certain rules:
1) Be careful with pickpockets
I think the biggest threat for the revellers is pickpockets. In all clubs, be extremely careful with your personal belongings because with the crowd, the noise and the alcohol, you won't notice if someone steals your stuff. I heard the worst places in Quito are Papillon and No Bar but you aren't totally safe anywhere...
2) Be careful with prostitutes
Especially in Mariscal, many prostitutes in the bars so be careful you know what you are doing and you protect yourself for safe sex.
